After reports in Turkey confirmed Rangers and Trabzonspor have met over the transfer of Croat Borna Barisic, it seems the former Osijek man has played his last match as a Ranger.

With a posited fee said to be in the region of around £5M, Barisic would become the biggest sale for Rangers, aside Nathan Patterson, in 10 years, and the man himself is and has been open to the move for some time.

Turkish champions Trabzonspor are in the playoffs for the CL, meaning just one round against the likes of København or Zagreb. They are also being linked with a move for AC Milan’s backup LB Fode Ballo-Toure according to journalist Mehmet Batuhan Ağır whose reliability is debatable.

But it seems the primary target is Barisic, with the belief a UEL finalist and Croatian international with a fair few years yet at the top of the game can help push their CL assault next season.

We’ll see if this one gets completed but unless these media reports are wrong, Barisic has played his last match.
