GVB has given a critical update on Kemar Roofe just 6 days before the Europa League Final.
The Jamaica star, who Rangers coped without for the return leg v Leipzig, has been missing since the cup semi win, and his absence has been longer than expected, but Gio’s update on him was at best vague and at worst a little disheartening.
He said:
“Roofe is not training with the team at the moment but he is doing everything he can to be ready. Hopefully he can make some positive steps in the coming days.”
With less than a week to go, it’s becoming clear Rangers are planning for Seville without Roofe, and his presence would at this point be a bonus.
It’s not super-worrying, Gio somehow pulls rabbits out of hats regardless of what players he has, but ideally we’d want our best at his disposal.
The fact he missed training again today isn’t the best sign, but Rangers have shown ability to defy the odds, and hopefully by Monday the striker is fit enough to be in contention.
If not, we’ll just have to cope without him.
