Predicted XI for Rangers: all change as Ramsey starts

As glorious as Thursday was, it’s back to domestic business tomorrow for Rangers, and it’s the 100% priority for the Famous.

Gio will be keen to get his side’s head out from the clouds (which they’ve earned, in truth) and field a hungry side ready to take 3 points away from Dundee, but equally he will be astute enough to realise the side was jaded on Thursday and played far from its best – freshening things up a bit v the Dens Park men would be wise rotation.

Which is why we think he’ll make a few changes for this one in the last match before the international break, seeing a league starting debut for Aaron Ramsey, following his bright show v Mark McGhee’s lot last week in the cup.

We also think Greegsy will be given the day off, with McLaughlin likely to start (we’d prefer McCrorie but he’s disappeared out of the picture the past half a year).

So, let’s look at the options:

Defence:

Tavernier will continue, it’s not even a debate, while Goldson takes up his usual slot beside him.
Helander needs more minutes and we think he’ll get the nod, while Barisic could use a confidence-building start himself.

In midfield we think there could be even more changes.

We’d like to see Joe Aribo rested and Alex Lowry in that slot, while Aaron Ramsey we reckon will be in there too.

Lundstram should be the DM and we think he’ll partner the Welshman.

So Kent left Lowry middle and a return for Ivory Coast man Amad Diallo, who is now fit again.

Up front? It will probably still be Morelos, but maybe a little bet for Sakala who’s waited patiently.

What we’re getting at is a bit of rotation to freshen things up, but by no means a fringe and weak XI.

So our XI:

McLaughlin; Tavernier, Goldson, Helander, Barisic; Lundstram, Ramsey; Kent, Lowry, Diallo; Sakala

Quite a few alterations but Dundee are not a great side and we looked dead on our feet on Thursday.

We’ll see what Gio selects.
