For all the reaction to the proposed ‘friendly’ this November, one thing we Blighties probably haven’t paid a lot of attention to is opinion directly from Down Under.

We have a lot of fans down there on Ibrox Noise, and we’ve seen very little support for this friendly even from them.

Here’s what one had to say to us:

Hey mate I’ll let you know what Australians think about us playing Celtic.

We would love to see it. But not at the cost of our season. And not everyone in Australia likes Ange Postecoglou or thinks he’s a great coach. He did a poor job with our u20s national team and got the boot. Did a very good job coaching club sides with Brisbane then Melbourne Victory. But Brisbane despite their success didn’t have a lot of cash after changing owners so he bailed out and left.

Then when Melbourne Victory started looking bad, he took on the Socceroos job and left both clubs in a worse position. He coached the national squad, didn’t do terribly well at the 2014 world cup so once again he bailed months before the 2018 world cup and went to Japan.

Won the comp in Japan with Yokohama J. Marinos then bailed on them to take the Celtic job. He’ll do the same to Celtic as soon as a job in England, Italy, Spain or Germany comes up. And the side he put together suit his coaching style which works well in Asia.

I don’t like the bloke. We can beat them the next 2 times we play them if we play well. We have to play aggressive and go for the win. If we sit back that will suit his style. He can’t manage against teams that break down defensive systems. The Socceroos couldn’t score goals and he used to play overlapping wing backs at all costs.

If someone takes out Rogic or kicks his strikers around (I’m thinking someone like Lundstram) they won’t like it and will probably shut down. That’s why these European sides they play tear Celtic to pieces. We’ve got to watch how they did it. It will be how we beat Celtic. High pressure, high tempo. Beat them at Ibrox instead of sitting back.

Sure, he got a bit sidtracked talking about, you know, the matches which actually MATTER, but you certainly get the point don’t you…
