We had to laugh as the DR claimed an exclusive story this morning, one we at Ibrox Noise reported all through the winter break.

Yes, Middlesbrough’s Chris Wilder did indeed consider John Lundstram in a reunion signing bringing our midfielder south, but it didn’t happen. Well done Daily Record on announcing what we knew 3 months ago face palm

But being serious, fans were ready to junk Lunny in the winter – Gio had shown him no interest at all, until he finally relented and now fans realise Lunny is probably our best midfielder aside Ryan Jack, albeit they do different roles.

So why Lundstram was on the bench yesterday for a match in which we had to dig in only GVB knows.

Why the passive Glen “pass backwards” Kamara was in his place I don’t really know, but it was a bungle from Gio, one of quite a few he made on the day.

Doesn’t excuse the dreadful performance again, but hey, another topic for another day.

As for Lunny, he has to play. It’s simple as that. He and Jack are our best two mids, and it’s absolute gross negligence to use any other combination at present.

Both are fit, hard-working, and Jack is dynamic while Lunny is playmaking. They compliment each other perfectly.

So Wilder wanting Lunny back is no surprise.

Not to anyone who knows football and what Lunny can deliver.

Let’s be glad that one didn’t materialise because he’s one of Rangers’ best players.
