Rangers’ long term defensive target Danilho Doekhi has ‘confirmed’ Rangers’ interest in him but claimed he won’t be leaving this month and assures his club’s supporters he will remain in Holland at least until the end of the season.
The 23-year old stopper has been on Rangers’ radar for a considerable period and was strongly linked with a January switch to Ibrox, but that appears to be on hold at least for now.
He said:
In short terms, he’s not leaving in January, unless a big club (like Rangers) offers him a good plan (lots of money and winners medals).
The lad is a well-rated stopper and the signing of James Sands and interest in Hearts’ John Souttar may have relegated interest in Doekhi a little, but we’ll see if that changes over the winter window.
I don’t really see this as a problem since he would be brought in to replace the (maybe) departing Goldson in the summer. It would of course still be possible to sign him now to move in the summer. The problem might come if he decides he doesn’t want to SIGN for anyone until the summer. By then I imagine his options would be much wider and our chances of getting him reduced.
