New injury blow at Ibrox could see transfer urgency

Ianis Hagi’s injury blow shows how essential it is to get a RW in now, be it Skov Olsen or anyone else, after the Romanian playmaker had to be hauled off on Friday.

The former Genk man has mostly been deputising for ‘a right winger’ under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, with Kemar Roofe only now just returning to fitness (himself also not really a RW) and losing the Romanian would lead to a real dearth of quality on the right, with just Scott Wright the last remaining option.

Rangers are waiting on a ‘medical decision’ from the scan on Hagi’s knock to see what the prognosis actually is, and while young Alex Lowry thrived under the Govan lights on the night, it’s far too much pressure this soon to chuck him in should the news from the injury be bad.

Which just emphasises more how Rangers badly need a fixture on the right, with, of course, a nod to the fact Hagi has been filling in for the infinitely superior Joe Aribo in the 10 as well.

Meaning there’s had to be a lot of shuffling going on in attack, with players not available or injured, giving GVB a lack of settled options up there.

All of which just lends more weight to getting a RW in ASAP and hoping for the return of Joe Aribo as quickly as possible.

The Old Firm just isn’t far away…

  1. I hope Hagi is ok but he’s never really been the answer on the right. He does give us good cover there and in his real number 10 role but we need a dedicated RW with some pace and skill. Skov Olsen does look a good fit with a more than decent CV but we’ve never seemed like favourites to sign him unfortunately.
