Rangers and Hearts are to unite this weekend in memory of Fernando Ricksen and Marius Žaliūkas by honouring both players with a tribute to their fights against the horrific disease that is MND.
The gesture, a rare sign of positive harmony in Scottish football, is designed to raise awareness of the illness and of course to support charities fighting the disease, in a move we can all support.
But, of course, let’s please not forget the late David Hagan who also played for both sides and who also passed from the same devil affliction only last year.
It is, however, a wonderful gesture from both clubs, and shows many things are in fact more important than the Beautiful Game, important though it is, and we do of course encourage everyone to donate if they can afford to by texting mobile number 70660 with the word ‘CUREMND’.
Just, maybe add David into the memories too?
