“Games in hand” – major twist for Rangers Utd

With Rangers cruising on fantastic form under the management of Giovanni Van Bronckhorst, winning every domestic match so far under his command, it has left the Ibrox faithful greatly pleased and just waiting on the next match.

It hasn’t been an easy run of games either, with ‘banana peel’ fixtures aplenty with away trips to Livingston, Hibernian and Hearts to deal with. Rangers have dealt with their home games well too, sweeping aside Dundee with a comfortable 3-0 victory, and utterly dominating St. Johnstone in a 2-0 win where the only complaint a fan could have was that we didn’t see something of a cricket score to reflect just how brilliantly Rangers performed.

Rangers have gone from strength to strength under the new gaffer, appearing to play with more confidence and style in every fixture. Next in store for the champions now is another home fixture, up against Dundee United in what promises to be another exciting challenge. However, due to circumstances around the domestic calendar, the game could hold a lot more importance than usual.

On Sunday, 2nd placed Celtic are participating in the Premier Sports Cup final, and therefore will not be playing a league fixture over the weekend. This then means that Rangers, should they win Saturday’s clash at Ibrox, could open up a 7 point gap at the summit of the table. Of course, Celtic will still hold a game in hand for their troubles, but any football fan knows the importance of any psychological advantage you can gain over your opponents.

This was evident last season, as Rangers raced into a monstrous lead at the top of the table following complications with COVID-19 on the other side of Glasgow. Celtic held games in hand aplenty, however psychologically had to deal with the fact that one slip up could make Rangers’ insurmountable gap at the top of the league a reality. Considering Rangers ended the season a comfortable 25 points clear, it is a telling tale of how well Celtic stepped up to the pressure Rangers put on them through games in hand.

That being said, Rangers still have a job to do to get that big result at the weekend. After all, Dundee United are the only team to take a victory away from a match against Rangers this season, albeit with our former manager in charge. The ‘Gers will need to remain on the ball to take those three crucial points away from the match, and extend their lead at the top to seven.

With plenty of speculation regarding COVID-19 issues at Tannadice Park, Rangers fans will need to hold on to find out if the game will go ahead at all, but if it does, it promises to be a possible match of big importance, and to hopefully give Rangers a psychological edge in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.

  1. Totally disgusted with the referees in Scotland,

That lot across the city are struggling big time to gain satisfactory results they have managed to grind out the results with outrageous decisions to get over the finishing line hook or by crook with the help of some farcical decisions going there way.

Dingwall was a farce 6 minutes is introduced yet they played 7 minutes stoppage time and get that 3 desperate points to stay in touching distance with the Gers.

I don’t see Stewart ranting raving about the amount of time given to that shower of S—- across the city.

Also if that was Rangers fans running onto the pitch there would be a public outcry from all quarters of the city and the Gers would be fined heavily.

It’s double standards in Scotland and the standard of referees is just diabolical refs card happy all the time something seriously has to be done because the standard of refereeing is absolutely atrocious.

Rant over the Rangers juggernaut goes from strength to strength, as Lulu would say ( quote we are the people ).🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
