Rangers fans are today falling all over themselves to say ‘I must eat humble pie’ with regards to John Lundstram, who has almost entirely won the fanbase over after a slightly shaky start to life at Ibrox.

The colossal midfielder, derided by so many, including Blades fans eager to tell us on the site and page just how ‘rank rotten’ and how much of a ‘donkey’ the 27 year old was, has shown in the past few weeks just what kind of player he actually is, and how good he can be for this club.

The biggest stand out is those ‘I was wrong’ posts we’re seeing, because so rarely do football fans admit to being incorrect on their opinions about anything, and especially not when Ibrox Noise told them otherwise!

Yes, we are all seeing now why this site was so excited to secure Lundstram, a giant of an engine room man, who has composure, vision, and power, and why we never stopped backing him.

And in a welcome change, readers and fans are admitting they got it wrong.

Reality is Ibrox Noise are happy to be wrong too, if it’s for the benefit of the team – Rangers matter more than the ego of being ‘correct’. And so rarely do we see the audience of the same mind, but over Lundstram we are seeing that.

The number of messages happily eating humble pie and now giving the number 4 the credit and admiration he deserves is very nice to see.

He was, by a mile, the best signing we made this summer, and maybe the biggest Stevie has made as manager. We truly secured a £10M+ midfielder for nought and that’s our favourite price.

And it’s even better now that fans are 99% onside with him.

Well played John.

  1. One interesting thing that might have escaped your attention…JL was given MoM by sponsor on Sunday, and I thought that was fair. However, when you view the BBC report on the game and look at their “player rater”, JL is flat bottom of the poll – of ALL the players, even Porteous. I know opposing fans can vote for players, as well as real supporters, but there are many more Gers fans than Hibs fans, so this would seem to suggest the turnaround in support isn’t as widespread as you suggest. I’m with you, and think he will grow into a great player for us.
