We must admit we have loved everything about new man Fashion Sakala from the moment he signed.

Sure, we didn’t know a tonne about him, but his record was good, his age similar, and his attitude absolutely fantastic as he showed Rangers a colossal amount of respect and told us all he’d finally made it in football to get a club this big, and knew us well before he ever joined.

Without being point scoringly petty about it, compare that to Alfredo Morelos’ attitude, which, let’s be frank, is and always has been the polar opposite.

Nevertheless, Sakala’s latest comments to the media only hammered home further just how lucky he feels to be at this club, and how he considers himself carrying the hopes of his whole nation as he begins his new adventure at Ibrox.

He’s one of the most humble, sincere, kind and most genuine players Rangers have signed for a very long time – his smile may be the biggest we’ve seen at Auchenhowie for years, and he truly considers himself at the largest club he’ll ever be at.

It’s that humility, that gratefulness from a new signing, showing us absolute respect and appreciating where he is that frankly we don’t see enough of.

And his display v Motherwell was certainly the bright spot of the match.

Is Morelos’ place under threat? It shouldn’t even be a question. The Colombian has barely kicked a ball in anger this season, and Sakala is just starting to click into gear now.

We want a player who is desperate to impress in the shirt, not one who is desperate to leave.

While Morelos will have his uses till the day he gets his move, Sakala really should be number one for as long as he’s good enough to deserve the shirt.

His attitude is, his running is, and he’s now got the goals to match.

It’s not quite ‘Alfredo who’, but we want a lot more of Sakala to see if he’s the real deal.

We hope he is.

  1. I hope Fashion Jnr gets his own song as well, the kid will go far, he has the passion and hunger which sadly 95% of our other players that don’t and a few need dropped from the squad
