Rangers will have their first major championships representative for an age today when Finland’s Glen Kamara takes his maiden bow at this level in their opening group match v Denmark.

The Rangers midfielder, such a source of speculation and rumour, has played down stories linking him with a move out, but has admitted himself his focus isn’t on moves, or on Rangers now, it’s purely on his country, and rightly so.

The 25-year old midfielder has his chance to shine on one of the biggest stages of all, a major international championships, and there’s no denying that while his priority is doing his best for his country and potential progression to the knock out stages, the back of his mind is also considering what is next for his club career.

As we discussed recently, while he played down talk of a move away, he admitted it remained a possibility, so that will play on his thinking.

And whatever happens, this is a grand stage to showcase himself, so standing out will be significantly in his consciousness, as it will be for so many players this summer.

Either way, we wish him the best, and that he has a wonderful match for Finland.

It’s only right a player of his talent gets to show that off, and whatever comes of that will come of that.

Que sera.
