Rangers appear to have confirmed there will be no Liverpool friendly this summer, but in fact a Liverpool-based side instead.

Tranmere Rovers on July 10 will be the opposition on Merseyside as opposed to Steven Gerrard’s former team, possibly putting permanently to rest the notion of a colossal summer friendly against the Anfield giants.

Instead it’ll be League Two Tranmere in the same region who will be Rangers’ Liverpudlian opposition this summer.

This isn’t an absolute confirmation Rangers won’t play Liverpool themselves, but equally we’re not absolutely sure where such a fixture would fit in given four matches have now been confirmed for July just prior to the CL qualifiers beginning.

So, it appears there’ll be no visit from Liverpool or trip to Anfield this summer.

And that’s that.
