Morelos gets Colombia KO as Porto move in

Alfredo Morelos’ dismal Copa America goes from bad to worse after Rangers’ star striker’s latest axe from the national team for the fourth and final group clash with Brazil.

On the bench just twice in four matches and getting a mere 7 minutes playing time in the whole competition, it’s clear Morelos is deeply out of favour with this national manager despite the Coffee Men managing a very modest 3 goals in those four outings, and despite the call up in the first place.

Every other striker the manager selected has started at least one match, and managed plenty minutes from the bench – Morelos has been completely overlooked.

We don’t know if his focus is possibly distracted by the transfer speculation linking him to Porto, or if he’s carrying a knock, or if the manager just doesn’t rate him, but Morelos’ presence in South America has thus far been a complete waste of time.

If he’s carrying an injury, he should have been sent home, but a sub outing in the third fixture suggests he’s fit.

We just don’t know what’s going on there, but Morelos’ Copa really has been a disappointment.

Why was he even called up….
