Rangers clinched every record under the sun today with the final stunning home win over Aberdeen, and therefore Ibrox Noise will do our ratings… for the season.

This will apply to all players who played a decent role in the season, so here we go!

McGregor:

He got POTY for a good reason. He’s had a stunning campaign, pulling off several miracle saves. We can’t fault him in truth. 10

Jon McLaughlin:

Got more clean sheets than any Celtic goalie, and was excellent when asked to deputise. He’s a decent keeper and a great deputy. 9

James Tavernier:

What a brilliant first half of the season – his stats were absurd. He lost his way a little in the second and had injury too but he won’t mind that. 9

Nathan Patterson:

All the promise in the world, looks a superb talent and scored two stunning goals. Better defender than his mentor, in truth. All about potential. 8

Connor Goldson:

The season of his life, a clear POTY contender, Goldson was smooth, composed, but strong and led well. He didn’t miss a single second of this campaign which we’re sure is a record somewhere. 10

Filip Helander:

Really showed his class in many parts this season, and forced his way back into the Sweden side. In truth he’s probably our best defender for pure quality, but he does struggle to stay fit. On a football level though? 10

Leon Balogun:

A little shaky here and there and often unfit, this is a fine player at the wrong end of his career and wasn’t really able to get into his groove enough. But has great pace and when he is fit he’s a fine unit. 8

Jack Simpson:

Barely played but did get cameos at the end, and while he’s not quite settled in, there’s potential there. Stevie seems to think so. 7

Borna Barisic:

Had another great campaign, only Celtic’s Turnbull was more creative in the SPL. Barisic is world class and we’ll do well to hold onto him. A little quiet after the new year but many were. We’re actually rather spoiled by him. 9

Calvin Bassey:

Very different to the Croat and didn’t deliver on the promise Stevie said he would – is really only a squad player and does an ok job here and there when called on. But isn’t really good enough for Rangers, in truth. Not yet anyway. 6

Steven Davis:

We’ve out of words for this guy. What a flawless season. Wonderful. 10

Glen Kamara:

A quality player who was maybe at 80% of his best this season – just that nagging sense he held a little back. Still a wonderful asset though and reliable as hell. 9

Bongani Zungu:

Ok he was rank rotten on the pitch but he stood up for Glen so he’s ok by us. N/A

Ryan Jack:

Stupendous worker, amazing reading, just so unfortunate with injuries. He’s like Helander, brilliant when he’s available. So on that level, it’s a 10.

Joe Aribo:

Really burst into form in February and never looked back. Great technical player who absolutely bosses it now – and really did a superb turn at LB the last two outings. 10

Scott Arfield:

Another one beset with injuries but when fit and in form, he’s maybe the most important player on the pitch. Outstanding worker and contributor, and gives his all. 10

Ianis Hagi:

Had a solid season, a little on the periphery of the XI but the talent is clear. Whether he’s in Stevie’s plans for next season we don’t know. 8

Ryan Kent:

Another POTY, this guy had one hell of a campaign, and really did tear defences apart again. We would love to have him for the shot at UCL. 10

Scott Wright:

Bright, breezy, hard-working and dynamic, Scott impressed everyone and used his minutes very well indeed. Determined to be a success. 9

Kemar Roofe:

Weird season for Kemar – on a football level he was great, that goal in Liege, the stats – he did well. But he missed a lot through injury and suspensions and was dogged by a bit of controversy too. But, overall good. 8

Cedric Itten:

Just couldn’t really supplant Alfredo Morelos and despite a few good goals he was never really in Stevie’s thinking as a serious player. 7

Alfredo Morelos:

A different season, took him a LONG time to really look like his old self, but worked hard, scored a decent haul of goals, and can be happy with what he did. 9

Jermain Defoe:

What limited time he got this season he did fantastically well with. A true pro, a clinical finisher and he really is a reliable stalwart. 10

And last but not least the manager:

Steven Gerrard, aided by cohorts Beale and McAllister, produced a miracle Rangers this season. They worked for him, they played for him, and his media performances too were brilliant. He generally speaks brilliantly to the press, and that translates into trust with the players and an SPL title to boot. He had a perfect season as manager, aside those two ugly cup exits. But we’ll still give him a clear 10.

  1. Think we hagi deserves a 10 if nearly everybody else got a 10 lol we mans been superb. Starting to look the player we all thought he would be especially when he gets hiss chance playing through the middle. Another assist yesterday. His goal/assist per minutes played must be the best at the club? If not very close. Wee man never gives up. Think we’ll see a helluva lot more of him next year.
