Tell me that's not Da Vinci....

Rangers’ pre-match team selection announcement had an unusually classy touch – profile pics of select team members drawn by young supporters.

Now, we weren’t expecting Rembrandt here but Nathan Patterson’s portrait was especially good, and we must admit we were endeared and amused by the kids’ attempts at Allan McGregor, Steven Davis, Connor Goldson and indeed manager Steven Gerrard, a theme which continued throughout the match with incredibly accurate portrayals of various other players hitting social media.

Frankly it was a lot of fun, but naturally some grumpy members of Rangers’ fanbase were critical and whined at the content, arguing the kids should learn to draw – thankfully the majority loved the notion, and one or two even thought the pics were better than the real thing.

It was part of a Junior Takeover of social media for match day, with MyGers’ members having their little moment in the sun – fans were particularly impressed by the Steven Gerrard attempt, and of course Scotty Arfield, Joe Aribo, Ianis Hagi and Alfredo Morelos’ drawings were borderline photorealistic.

We like this stuff from the club – connecting the Famous to the fans and vice versa.

Champions, on and off the pitch.
