Steven Gerrard has now been linked to Tottenham in the biggest case yet of 2+2=5 given Jose’s struggles at present and Gerrard’s rising stock.
Obviously, he’s achieved miracles in Scotland on a modest budget, and this led to the likes of Newcastle, West Brom and Sheffield being linked – massively coveted locations, obviously.
But the Spurs story is more interesting – Mourinho’s gloriously infamous man-management skills, or lack thereof, have led to suggestions his job isn’t overly secure, and despite a decent 6th at present domestically, an abysmal exit of the Europa League gives some idea of the mixed bag of his latest spell in London.
So a few punters have made a connection.
In short, forget it.
Stevie might be slightly more tempted by Spurs than Sheffield, but the only English job he will take is Liverpool.
Gerrard will not ever want to face his boyhood team on any level, as we mentioned before, the John Terry example of going down a division to avoid Chelsea pretty much applies to our gaffer.
Yes, Spurs are a bit more lucrative and tempting than West Brom, with all due respect, but they’re not Liverpool, and until Stevie is ready to manage at Anfield, he just isn’t going to take the reins at Tottenham.
Or anywhere else in the PL.
