Steven Gerrard has admitted tying Glen Kamara down to an improved deal is a priority amidst ‘noise’ around the player potentially having to be sold.
The midfielder has been in scintillating form this season and has become a major transfer target for the likes of Benfica and Everton, and Rangers’ boss confirmed that while it’s his job to ‘advise’ on which players deserve an improved contract, the situation with Kamara is becoming paramount.
He said:
There’s clearly concern here, that a rich club could come in next month with a colossal bid for Kamara and tempt him into the move.
As we said in a previous entry, we don’t believe Kamara would want to leave when he’s on the verge of Champions League football and an SPL title as well as a potential treble, but equally filthy lucre does also speak.
End of the day any bid for him would have to be massive to make Gerrard and the board consider it, but Kamara is tied down till 2023 and isn’t going anywhere if this club has anything to do with it.
But they are still wary of the situation’s potential.
He is one of probably 5 real assets that we have at Ibrox and in today’s football probably like Barasic and Tav a proper modern tactical player . Let’s hope he is being guided properly and is signed up to ensure we do the best for him and the club .
