Sky Sports drop big Rangers hint in new plug
This one was interesting.....

Sky Sports today did a little Killie Aberdeen preview, but their choice of player to plug the match was very interesting indeed from a Rangers perspective.

Former Rangers man, still on loan at Aberdeen Ross McCrorie was joined by many fans’ pick for future Rangers man Lewis Ferguson in a Q&A about their lives and their careers.

And the most telling comment was that Ferguson is regarded as the ‘teacher’s pet’, manager Derek McInnes’ favourite player of his squad by some distance.

Is this a future Rangers player?

Rangers have had a distant interest in his services for some time, but it’s also true our depth in his position is pretty impressive.

Despite the midweek result, Rangers still have Steven Davis, Scott Arfield, Joe Aribo, Glen Kamara, Ryan Jack and Ianis Hagi as options for the varying types of midfielder, and whether Lewis Ferguson, aged only 21, is good enough to supplant any of them is a matter for debate.

But few would deny he’d be a very good player for depth and squad purposes, and there’s every chance he could even grow, Tavernier-style, into a truly extraordinary player.

But for now, he remains a Dons man, and we doubt a January bid for him is coming from Rangers any time soon.

We can’t help feeling McCrorie might have been better served staying at Ibrox though.

Que sera sera.

  1. I don’t think Ferguson is better than what we currently have. When we replace those named surely it will be with better players. That’s how you move forward. If it wasn’t for his Rangers connections I doubt anyone would be looking at him.
