Stevie at Pittodrie earlier this season....

Steven Gerrard could be set to give Bongani Zungu his debut today at Kilmarnock after doubts about Ryan Jack’s fitness following midweek action v Lech Poznan.

Rangers manager has been no stranger to some necessary rotation between the European campaign and domestic, with a number of key players rested on and off to keep them fresh for the respective tournaments.

But Zungu, having been on the bench midweek, is ready to take his bow and may just get a debut on Killie’s pitch with Steven Davis and/or Glen Kamara possibly requiring rested.

It’s a tough surface as we know, and we’ll need physical and strong players, which may just mean a debut for the potential future main partnership in midfield of Zungu and Kamara.

But that’s for down the line – what matters today is all three points, and with Killie hitting a small patch of form (3 wins of the last 5) they’re not the cannon fodder now they were when Rangers rolled them over earlier in the season.

Whether Zungu will start remains to be seen, but if his rotational skills of late are anything to go by, it’s a huge possibility.
