Celtic’s latest loss in the League Cup has opened the door even wider for Rangers to secure Steven Gerrard’s first silverware as manager.

The result, a defeat at home to Ross County, wasn’t really a surprise given how poor Celtic have become, but it was nevertheless a pleasant bonus for Rangers, who now have a job to do this afternoon against Falkirk.

The shambles and meltdown at Parkhead is only getting worse (better?), unable to handle the pressure of a resurgent Rangers, but the proof is in the pudding of beating Falkirk and going all the way in this competition.

Nothing in life is guaranteed, and manager Steven Gerrard has picked a strong team to face the Bairns.

But if all is pure and holy, and we hope it is, Rangers should win today, and nothing should stop us winning this tournament as long as we apply ourselves properly.

The stage is yours, Rangers.
