With major doubts over Borna Barisic’s ability to turn out for the Famous this weekend, we wonder frankly why he hasn’t already flown home.

Filip Helander and Cedric Itten are two Rangers players to have gone home or not even flown out recently after an injury issue ruled them out of the international setup, with the Swede’s concerns being problematic over this particular break.

But Barisic is still at the Croat camp and has missed the opening two matches of his country’s Nation’s League campaign and isn’t expected to turn out v France tomorrow either.

This of course leaves him as a giant injury doubt for the weekend, following the knock he picked up weeks ago v Portugal – his injury issues have returned since that and have complicated themselves too.

But why is he still with his country on international duty?

We’ve heard nothing alluding to his return to terra firma, unlike Filip Helander who never even flew out in the first place.

Barisic has injury issues, which flared up notably again against Ross County for him to be withdrawn and replaced by Calvin Bassey, but while his participation this weekend is a huge question, a bigger one is why Croatia haven’t sent him home.

Your guess is as good as ours on that one.

  1. The Croatia gaffer says he’s fine and will play against France. By sounds of it keeping him fresh for the biggest game they have. Fingers crossed he’s as fine as they say.
