Morelos ‘holding Rangers to ransom’ over contract
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - OCTOBER 04: Alfredo Morelos of Rangers is challenged by Alex Iacovitti of Ross County during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Ross County at Ibrox Stadium on October 04, 2020 in Glasgow, Scotland. Amidst claims this morning that Alfredo Morelos is holding Rangers to ransom, we’re deeply troubled by the current direction this saga is going in.

The story we’re hearing is Morelos has demanded a new contract and higher wage to ‘remain motivated’ after a move to Lille collapsed which is said to have angered him.

He is allegedly upset that Rangers didn’t accept the £16.5M bid the Ligue 1 club submitted, and has threatened to down tools if he doesn’t get a better-paid deal.

Morelos is currently, going by various sources, the best paid player at the club, with a salary said to be around the £35,000 mark, which isn’t surprising given he’s signed around three new deals since he actually joined, but after the Al Duhail story of recent times, Morelos allegedly now wants a pay hike to retain his focus.

There is also a claim Rangers have already inserted a buy-out clause in his last deal, which Lille did not meet and which protects the club from being lowballed on him.

If this story is true, and of course there’s every chance it isn’t, then we’re disquieted at best. We’ve always known Morelos has attitude issues at this club – Steven Gerrard has called him out on it more than once.

But this would be a very sinister direction to take – to demand a pay rise to ‘stay motivated’.

We’d be much happier if he was motivated in the Middle East in truth.

  1. We all would like this to come to good outcome, unfortunately Morelos and his representative are at the caper . We should stay firm and hold him to contract if he doesn’t play he should be fined , I can’t believe he would ruin his own career ….would he ???

  2. Stand firm. If he wants to ruin his career and reputation then good luck to him. I imagine with many clubs he is already toxic due to his indiscipline. If he was to add this type of behaviour to it then no one would touch him.

  3. Hindsight is a great thing, but clearly we should have taken the Lille money. Although we all thought he was worth more. His value is now much less. I would try to loan him out and get him off the squad and off the wages bill.

  4. He had already had 3 or 4 pay rises
And the key to them were he was playing well and deserved them
He certainly doesn’t deserve 1on current form
If he downs tools throw the Fat Bastard in the youth team for a bit might bring him down a peg , who the fuck does he think he is .

  5. I would be saying to him if i see a inprovement in your footballing scoring goals then you will get pay rise if not you stay the same its just greed and anyway whos to listen to this much anyway its all media talk the media is full of shit they make up stories on players they know nothing about thats the sad thing now a days players are not safe at clubs because the media ruin there careers with sick roumours

  6. He should have been sent off for striking Brown on head. That could have cost Rangers their victory. Look at his stats in OF games. Red and yellow cards but no goals. Needs to be transferred asap
