Dutch reporters and commentators were up to their old tricks again last night as they labelled Rangers lucky once more.

After considering Rangers’ excellent win v Feyenoord last year a ‘fluke’, despite Steven Gerrard’s men racing to a 0-4 win last night win, frankly, something to spare, Dutch commentators once again refused to give any credit for the win and suggested the visitors were simply fortunate.

It’s curious really, Rangers historically have excellent records against Dutch sides, but under Steven Gerrard weirdly despite his name and calibre throughout the football world, his all-conquering Rangers team are discredited in the Netherlands regardless of the performances and results.

While it’s true that Willem did start promisingly, it completely unravelled after the penalty, and although McGregor was also forced into a few good saves to say the least, it wouldn’t be completely unfair to suggest 0-4 was a reasonably accurate reflection of Rangers’ superiority.

Maybe it verged on slightly flattering, but that Rangers actually failed to make it 5 due to Morelos’ poor finishing gives some idea of how far ahead the visitors actually were from the home side last night.

‘Lucky’?

If we’re lucky, we sure made our own luck.
