We absolutely know that, to an extent, Rangers manager Philippe Clement’s hands are tied in selection.

We’re missing 5+ players to injury, and we’re filled with rotten ones who simply aren’t up to it.

We penned a piece illustrating a whole host of players we’d dump – we stand by that list despite the fact we’ve won two matches in a row in all competitions.

But regardless of any limits on him, Clement clearly suffers the usual Rangers manager stubbornness where, admittedly he did drop the diabolical Connor Goldson, and the useless Tom Lawrence, but he then backed up a bit on that.

Borna Barisic back in at LB when he offers less than nothing. There’s left-sided Ben Davies happy to take that berth.

John Lundstram who is as good as officially-confirmed leaving – his still playing sends out a weird message to other players, especially given his obvious form dip. Is there any coincidence his form fractionally rose in Paisley when it appears his future is now sorted? All he wanted was peace of mind one way or the other. Replace with Dujon Sterling.

Fabio Silva is just sh*t. This is a terrible, terrible player who doesn’t suit our club or the league. He is among the worst SPL strikers Rangers have ever had, up there with Lammers, Jeffers and Ostenstad. FYI he’s a Clement signing. More of them in the summer? Replace with Kemar Roofe.

Sterling as winger. How. Many. More. Times. Do. We. Need. To. Ask? This guy isn’t a LB, he’s not a defender, he’s not a winger, he’s barely even a RB. He’s a midfielder. Central or defensive. Pure and simple. Will we ever see him there again? Under this manager we doubt it. Replace with Ross McCausland. Doesn’t add much either but we will at least get someone in position giving a bit of balance.

James Tavernier. This is a controversial one given the number of times he bails us out, but again, his defending is atrocious. Nearly cost at least one goal again, just as he has in the last two or three matches early on. He is a dire defender, and his form, aside assists, has absolutely crashed in 2024. New RB needed this summer.

As we say, we know the boss does have limits – the bench in Paisley was horrible. The changes we’d have made were Davies, Roofe and McCausland. Still hardly inspiring is it?

So we are not blaming Clement for the utter mince of a squad he has right now.

But he’s still making the same mistakes, the same bad selections, and just shipping Goldson to the bench doesn’t fix the other errors.

Rangers are absolutely atrocious, it is very much Michael Beale’s Rangers, the worst of Gio’s the worst of Stevie’s before he won 55 and just before he left.

How much is Clement and how much is the squad.
