Rangers oddity as returning injuries WEAKEN the results?

Sadly, the data that previously held Philippe Clement’s Rangers reign superior to Brendan Rodgers’ record in the time the Belgian has been here is now favouring the Celtic manager and his current run.

Clement has disappointingly lost the 6-point advantage he had, and the two sides are now neck and neck with 56 points since Clement’s first match v Hibs in October.

Sadly, going by data of the turnaround the past few weeks makes bad reading for Rangers fans.

Of the past 8 matches played, 7 for Rangers excluding Dundee, Celtic have 16 points, while Rangers have just 10.

In the past 5 matches it’s really gone to pot.

Celtic have 10 points, Rangers have just four excluding Dundee.

The data, sadly, now favours Celtic, who have turned a modest corner of some consistency in the past 8 matches, while Rangers have completely collapsed.

The bizarre oddity here is Rangers’ best form actually came DURING the injury crisis – the more Clement complained about the lack of options and the issues of missing players, the better the consistency was.

Now that he has a tonne of players back, with a total of just five unavailable, the results have actually suffered very badly indeed.

We’re not even going to pretend to posit a theory, but it doesn’t help when your defence remains completely untouchable no matter how badly it’s performing, but that’s another argument we’ve made a thousand times and the bosses never listen.

Either way, Rangers were actually better when Clement’s hands were tied with injured players, when we had approaching 15 out.

Now that he has all the options, the performances have completely deteriorated, his management has fallen to bits and we have now definitively fallen behind Celtic.

We’ve lost volition and agency here, and it’s Celtic’s title to lose as things stand.

What a horrid afternoon in the Highlands it was.
