Rangers fans have confirmed they DO want to see Abdallah Sima signed permanently, despite earlier rating him rock bottom of a choice of himself, Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski and Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland.

The attacker, who has been quoted at around £5M-£6M for the permanent switch to Rangers, had to come off injured on Sunday only a few matches into his comeback from a bad thigh injury sustained on international duty, setting him back for an indetermined as yet period.

But while some have noted his being something of an injury concern overall given how much he’s missed this season, it didn’t stop the majority wanting to sign him for good.

Despite, as we say, his being plum last by a mile in an earlier choice between himself, Shanks and Miovski.

In a binary choice, Ibrox Noise, aware of the lad’s fee, voted overwhelmingly to sign him permanently, of around 3400 votes he got 87% favouring the £6M permanent signature this summer.

Just 13% didn’t want him remaining.

Ibrox Noise?

We’re actually fractionally undecided.

He plays a false 9 role, and he undeniably scores a lot of goals coming in from the left – before his injury he was regularly careless with the ball and had poor passing, in his brief return he’d massively improved on that and developed his composure a tonne, which was good to see.

But he isn’t a good team player – he won’t get assists and he will always be going for goal, which is fine, but it makes him a bit selfish.

He does, however, help a lot with defending, because he has the pace to get back and help the left flank out a lot. His stats as a defender are very decent.

But the biggest ‘if’ is the ‘made of chocolate’ argument. He has missed a lot of the season through injury, and had come off v Hearts inside 15 minutes as well – not a good sign at all.

We have lost enough expensive players in recent seasons through injury to know that’s not a wise route to take – Danilo, Roofe, Sima himself – that’s players of big value unavailable through injury.

So we’re cautious at best.

But the fans at large know what they want. Sima himself wants it, and Clement seems to as well.

We’ll see.
