In a more positive piece of news from Ibrox Noise (we know we’ve been grumpy lately), we ran a poll with the readers to see how you all felt about 56 now, and if you believed Rangers would still do it.

Now, up till about two weeks ago the data favoured Rangers overall, and we put our Ibrox Noise neck on the chopping board on that basis.

But the data has changed now, and favours Celtic, sadly.

But what did you guys and gals think?

Well, in an Ibrox Noise poll on Sunday night, 57% of 3300 votes still believe Rangers will win 56 this season, while 38% think it’s gone. 5% were unsure.

So that’s well over half the fanbase are not completely discouraged by recent results, and still think the team will secure the title.

See, that is what it is to support, to slightly ‘blindly’ stick by your faith in your team, that despite being presented with contradictory data, data which shows the slide isn’t favouring Rangers, the fans for the modest majority still believe in 56.

We don’t mind that at all.

Fans shouldn’t be throwing the towel in at the first sign of a massive obstacle, and there is faith we will still do it.

But the overriding theme in the comments for that poll was that it is still in Rangers’ hands (it is, technically, yes) and the players need to prove their bottle for the job.

And tellingly, as Ibrox Noise has been whining, Philippe Clement has to ring the changes.

If we see Tav, Goldson, Barisic, Wright, Dowell, Silva etc in the starting XI again on Wednesday, it’s evident he won’t (or can’t) change it.

But his own conduct has been so bad lately that we’re hardly sure we’d trust him if he has the agency to change it.

He earned a lot of trust, but he’s lost so much of it now. And the players are absolutely not delivering either.

So are the 57% of fans right?

We hope so, boy we hope so.
