Ibrox Noise would like to make a personal appeal to Rangers manager Philippe Clement:

Stop wasting Dujon Sterling.

There’s barely a Rangers fan who wasn’t blown away by Sterling’s appearances in midfield, and we all know that’s the position he’s not only best in, but he’s admitted is his favourite, and which was the one he was ‘reared’ in as a youth at Chelsea.

Putting him on the wings is just not working, pointless, and a waste of a player who can offer so much more in the middle.

We’ve seen him centrally: he absolutely shone against Celtic, despite the result, with a tonne of defending through the middle, and tight passing (strongest passer on the day for the side).

He thrives centrally, without any compare.

So seeing Nico Raskin start there, a kid who doesn’t care any more and who hasn’t kicked a ball in anger this entire season, is deeply frustrating… almost as frustrating as seeing Sterling on the right wing.

See, some fans have advocated for Tavernier as a winger – it wouldn’t work because he can’t beat men, and as RB gets unmarked freedom to hurt defences when he bombs forward. But we can see the logic, ish, even if it’s a fraction misguided.

But Sterling? He’s not in any way creative, he can’t dribble, he can’t cross, and he’s not got vision.

His attributes are useful in midfield, centrally, deep in the engine room.

Anyone who can’t see that is blind – few have shone as he did in there, with Clement’s masterstroke in the first place of putting him there.

And now he’s wasting him instead on the wings, something which started on the left v St Mirren (he looked absolutely lost) and which he’s persisted with.

Doesn’t work Phil, sorry, but it doesn’t.

Please please please put Sterling back in the middle, make us stronger, and leave Raskin on the bench where he belongs.

Thank you.
