Laughter is filling the air tonight after both Barry Ferguson and Ibrox News endorsed the dropping of either John Souttar or Connor Goldson for Thursday evening to be replaced with Leon Balogun.

Indeed, Ferguson demanded this in his paper column, and while we’ve got so much time for Barry, he really has come out with some absolute wallopers in his time, and this would be another.

Ibrox News, not us, and blissfully ignorant, quoted his comments and endorsed them fully, and for some of you regulars who know we love Balogun completely on Ibrox Noise, you may just wonder why we’re having a go at Ferguson.

For the avoidance of doubt:

Leon Balogun is ineligible for Europe this season and after missing out on ex-manager Michael Beale’s initial Europa League squad, was sadly unable to be included in Clement’s rebooted version due to stupid UEFA restrictions.

So, poor old Barry explaining why Balogun should replace either Souttar or Goldson is the height of silliness and he really was a wee bit out of touch on that one.

We’re not going to severely slaughter the lad, he is not a genius nor would he claim to be one. We did find his comments about Beale questionable earlier this season, but hey, he has his opinion.

But it does rather highlight that there are reasons why he, and indeed Graeme Souness, don’t have a job at Ibrox, with some opinions borne of rather incorrect assumptions.

We agree in theory, we’d absolutely have Leon in our starting XI more often than not, but sadly on Thursday that’s not possible.

And Ibrox News, for Rangers fans, supposedly, should have its finger infinitely more on the pulse than they do, but in reality they’re completely tone dear and don’t have a clue about the real issues at Rangers.

Ibrox Noise would never suggest we speak for all fans, nor do we have our finger completely on every pulse in Govan, but we do indeed know Balogun ain’t eligible.

Maybe such articles and views should be proof checked before they go out?
