9 in 12 as Rangers’ Fabio Silva turns a BIG corner

From kind of nowhere, Wolves’ on-loan Rangers man Fabio Silva is suddenly in red hot form, with a stunning 3 assists and 3 goals in his last 6 matches for club and country.

Scoring a goal last night and securing two assists in a 5-1 demolition of Croatia, it adds to his goal v Faroe Islands, and his goal and assist v Hibs and Benfica respectively.

All of which also means he has 10 goals and 12 assists in 20 appearances for his country at U21 level.

That’s £35M striker level for sure, and despite it just not working out in the Premier League for Silva, he’s picking a fantastic time to regain form and consistency.

He has confirmed if it can be done he’d love to stay at Rangers permanently, and it’s also been confirmed by Molineux sources that Gary O’Neill’s side are content to write Silva off almost entirely, which does open the door for Rangers to make the move.

Philippe Clement has similarly confirmed he only didn’t sign Silva permanently in January due to price, because obviously at the time £35M was a little beyond Rangers’ budget.

But the real point is Silva’s form at Rangers has started to drastically improve the past month+.

Since finally scoring v Livi in early February, Silva’s confidence has increased, and since that first goal, his stats read 6 goals and 3 assists in 12 matches in all competitions for club and country.

That’s 9 in 12, which is excellent however you look at it.

Almost sneaking up on us, Silva is now delivering. He’s done it in Europe, done it for his country, and is doing it in the league for his club too.

While Rangers fans are especially scathing of strikers these days, Silva is doing all he can now to prove he’s worthy.

He’s certainly on the right track.
