Just two to remain? 6 Rangers players out of contract

We’re deep into February fast approaching March (when did that happen) and one simmering issue is that of Rangers players out of contract. We’ve covered this before, but with us going quickly into Spring, Ibrox Noise wanted to refresh the latest and update with anything new.

We begin, of course, with John Lundstram:

Our info was that he did get an offer that he principally accepted some weeks ago, but that it still needs a little bit of adjustment – he wanted a fair pay rise, and good terms, bringing him more into line with the club’s best paid players. He’s had a great season, and wants to stay, but wants paid more in line of what he’s worth. He wants to stay, club wants to keep him, manager wants to keep him. So the details just need to get sorted.

Kemar Roofe:

Some outlets claiming he won’t be offered a new deal, well, shock horror If he even plays again for Rangers it’ll be a stunner. Roofe will leave this summer because it would be redundant to offer him a new deal.

Jon McLaughlin:

He’s got as much chance of a new deal as Roofe – he’s totally surplus. But the issue the club does have is Robby McCrorie will not be content with another season on the bench. So he may wish to move on, leaving us with just Kieran Wright.

Borna Barisic:

It’s now looking a lot more like the Croat and Rangers are set to part ways this summer – he’s no longer first choice, and at his age he wants to try a top five league before it’s too late – he did think he had a chance in January with Roma but then Mourinho got fired. He might be offered a new deal, but we’d be surprised if he accepts.

Ryan Jack:

Tricky one, he’s got something to offer but he’s rarely fit. The club would love to keep a fit Jacko, much like Roofe, but while he’s more available than the Jamaican, he’s another unlikely to be offered a new deal.

Leon Balogun:

He’s been great, he’s been fit, and Philippe Clement likes him. He wants to stay. We’d be staggered if Balogun doesn’t get a new deal.

And those are the main ones:

The only two we think genuinely likely to remain are Lundstram and Balogun. But who knows how quickly it changes in football.
