It’s time now for Rangers fans to quite simply move on from Lawrence Shankland. Some supporters are now being caught in the trap of referring to the Hearts and Scotland striker’s ‘latest great goal’ and decrying the club for not moving for him.

Ibrox Noise theorised a major reason why this may have been the case, but it no longer matters.

Lawrence Shankland is not our player, no matter how badly many Rangers fans wanted him to be, and while the whole story may reopen in the summer, we need to ditch talk about him for now and concentrate on who ‘is in the building’, as Philippe Clement would say.

Our fit strikers this February to June are definitely Fabio Silvia and Cyriel Dessers, with a slim chance we may have Abdallah Sima and Danilo back in varying amounts before the end of the season.

For now, factually, it’s Silva and Dessers probably till minimally April, give or take.

Not Shankland.

Philippe Clement and the club made their joint decision not to make a move for Shankland, he remains at Hearts and may or may not sign a new deal there if they pay him enough, but that’s none of our business any more.

What’s our business is what we have, who we do have, our players, and that’s the Portuguese and Nigerian.

They have between them in the last 6 matches, 5 goals. 4 for Dessers, one for Silva.

That is a pretty solid return, all told, and the need for Shankland just isn’t that great right now.

With James Tavernier still among Scotland’s best scorers as well, Rangers are better for goals than we previously felt, even though our RB scores a lot of them.

Furthermore, there’s the Ross County factor as well, which we’ll cover in a later entry.

But end result? Forget about Shankland. That’s history now.
