Sam Lammers’ January exit from Rangers is very much a work in progress, but there’s a bit of talk about ex-Gers boss Michael Beale and his interest or otherwise in the Dutchman.
While the national rag the s*n claims there’s ‘no interest’ in Lammers from the Stadium of Light, all other outlets believe Rangers are seeking to offer the Dutch forward to Beale, given how he ‘followed his career for 5 years and was desperate to get him at Rangers’.
Ok, so that was the usual nonsense Beale would regular spout about new signings, about how they were literally his best friends and he’d been trying to reunite for 4 decades, and Sam Lammers was no different
So one would imagine Beale would be desperate to link up with him again…
Of course we can always tell when the former boss fibs… he opens his mouth.
But being serious, Rangers will try to offload Lammers this month, be it to the English Championship, Italy or anywhere else.
He isn’t part of the club’s plans going forward and it has been a truly pitifully poor signing.
Will it be Sunderland? Probably not.
We don’t know what moved Beale to bring Lammers in – desperation? Out of his depth? Cheap?
But the signing has been as poor as it could have, with absolutely no evidence at all that it was going to be anything else.
Lammers failed at about 6+ clubs before then signing on the dotted line at Ibrox – it was clearly not going to be any different.
He flirted with defying expectations when he actually had a surprisingly bright preseason, but once the pressure was on he cracked dismally.
An honest player, but a poor one now, and he’d be better off at a lower level of football to rebuild his old confidence if he’s ever to shine in the game again.
And that level isn’t the pressure of Rangers.
