After a day of contradicting sources, misinformation and confusion, we can finally clear up the left-back and Ridvan Yilmaz etc situation at Rangers.

So Ibrox Noise now clarifies all of it. Ish.

Ridvan Yilmaz:

The Turk will leave for Hellas Veronas, but there is now some confusion over whether the deal is a loan or in fact permanent. Initial sources claimed it was a loan, in a bewildering move for Rangers which gives us no advantage at all, but on Saturday new information arrived which suggests it will be permanent, with Hellas set to make Rangers a formal offer for the defender.

What we do know is he’s going, and while we’ll have more analysis later about that, we’ll await official confirmation of the deal first.

Borna Barisic:

Suggestions he’ll be offered a new deal remain in the background, but they’re also kind of meaningless given Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent were offered new deals and didn’t accept, while Goldson did because he couldn’t find an alternative gig. Barisic is out of contract this summer but according to an Ibrox Noise poll this morning, the slight majority of fans would prefer to keep him. That one’s an ongoing situation. The player holds the cards there.

Josh Doig:

Nope, he’s going to Marseille. The French cracks stole a march ahead of both the previous favourites Torino and ourselves, and offered a clean €5M for him. Hellas accepted and he’s quite happy with that deal. So that’s that done.

Gijs Smal:

This one went very quiet, until reports this morning, inspired by the Josh Doig and Ridvan developments we assume, claimed Rangers were back in for the Twente LB. But it was not a terribly reliable source who are notorious for attention-seeking, so we’ll not take that terribly seriously.

Owen Beck:

In losing Ridvan, Rangers do need a second LB beside Barisic, assuming he’s staying – and we’re said to be seeing still if Liverpool might think again about their youngster who was impressive at Dundee. We’re wondering if that one might now be an attempt at a permanent deal rather than the loan it was claimed as.

And that’s the lot.

We warned months ago that LB was an area that threatened to fluctuate, that it needed proper sorting. Well here we are!
