Sky Sports have added yet another twist to the ongoing left back story at Ibrox, with confirmation Rangers ARE interested in bringing Josh Doig to Govan.
The 21-year-old Scottish LB appears destined to leave Hellas Verona, and as well as submitting another enquiry for Liverpool’s Owen Beck, Rangers are working on getting Doig into Ibrox as part of the deal involving Ridvan Yilmaz’ exit.
It’s all very eventful to say the least, but Doig, with a transfer value of around £7M, would be a top signing alright, and despite reports about interest in Doig from Torino and other Italian sides, Rangers have a big foot in the door there too.
While other sources suggest Rangers are also trying to extend Borna Barisic’s deal, the arrival of the former Hibs left back would suggest he and not Barisic would be first choice going forward, with Barisic being reduced to deputy. Would Doig’s arrival affect any deal for Borna?
It is now ‘out there’ that Rangers want Doig, and that Ridvan’s departure in the opposite direction is close. It’s been quoted as at ‘advanced’ stages.
But we don’t think Doig is as far along as that.
More as we get it.
