Michael Stewart was absolutely fuming at Rangers today, as the side who rejected him in a trial some decades ago strolled to victory at Hampden, amid the ex-Hearts man’s utter contempt.

Rangers fans took to social media to giggle at the former player, who has miserably failed to hide his hate for Rangers, not that he particularly likes Celtic per se.

Just that he loathes the Famous, and when Connor Goldson was fouled by Miovski, Stewart ended up in a rabid argument with Alan Hutton, himself a pretty horrendous commentator as well, who did, on this occasion, speak for all Rangers fans by basically laughing at his colleague.

Indeed, his amusement at Stewart’s insistence on the nonsense he was spouting was shared by most watching, and we have to say, Viaplay’s continued employment of Stewart is clearly for the same reason Sky have Sutton.

Pure controversy.

He’s not a stupid man, he is clearly not dumb, but he has decided to use his Rangers-disliking agenda for his own benefit within the media, and it clearly gains him a lot of jobs and traction.

And supporters were amused on social media today by just how blatantly anti-Rangers he was.

For example, he slaughtered John Lundstram’s admittedly reckless early tackle, and said that had it been 20 minutes later, that was a booking. In fairness he was correct.

But when Graeme Shinnie did the same 10 minutes later, he did reference the earlier tackle, but said it with nowhere near the same passion, fervour or insistence. Shinnie of course got away with murder at Hampden.

No, Stewart’s comms were funny as much as anything else, a clearly intelligent guy bowing to his paymasters and going the anti-Rangers route to curry favour.

Still, whatever pays the bills Mike!
