Rangers fans have been voting on a potential return on free agent and former Ibrox striker Alfredo Morelos after the Colombian striker’s Brazil spell collapsed spectacularly following relegation and his only having three appearances.

The 27-year-old, who had a clause allowing his release should Santos go down, is now seeking his next challenge, and with Rangers’ strikers, in a word, abysmal at present, Ibrox supporters have taken to an Ibrox Noise poll to express their opinion on his coming back to Govan.

And while it’s not overwhelming, 61% of 1600 votes and counting do favour the club bringing the lad back. But only on one condition…

In short, supporters who cautiously endorse Morelos coming back do so on the proviso that it’s the hungry, fit and well-balanced Morelos of a couple of years ago that the club receives, rather than the passive, disinterested and unfit one that ultimately ruined his final season or two.

Let’s be clear – at his peak for Rangers, Morelos was a bit of a machine.

Not the most natural of goalscorers, true, but a real handful and hit his definite Rangers peak in 19/20 with great goalscoring in the Europa League becoming the group stage’s top scorer.

But he was always looking for his move to the Premier League, and that was such a blot on his attitude at Ibrox.

If Morelos has learned humility, and that he’s not all that if his attitude isn’t there, and bucks up his ideas, playing for the shirt and showing his heart for our club, then Ibrox Noise would also favour his return.

We’d prefer Colak to come back, of course, who is having a rotten time in Italy with Parma, and loved his spell in Govan, but we can’t see Clement making a move for him.

But as for Morelos, he’s free, he is desperate to kick-start his crumbling career, and he now has everything to prove.

And while 39% of fans don’t want him anywhere near Ibrox, well, 61% do.

It’s not likely, but crazier things have happened.

He’d beat Lammers, Dessers and Danilo anyway.
