So attention turns to Sunday and Hearts’ visit to Ibrox to face the Famous, with a patchy Hearts lying in fourth. Having won just 3 of 9 matches, one would think that was bottom of the table material, but due to the very poor quality of the league this season, that is enough to close in on the top 3.

Philippe Clement will face the other Edinburgh side still not completely sure which side is his strongest XI.

Mainly because he is unlikely to have one.

We must endure the next few weeks as the manager familiarises himself with the squad, and starts to eke out the best and worst qualities/players from it.

Until then, predicting XIs isn’t terribly hard – Ibrox Noise got midweek bang on aside Lammers in place of Wright. But with that having been a massive 90, the manager is likely to want to refresh things a bit.

So here’s what we reckon:

Butland of course.

Back four is likely to be Tavernier, Goldson, Souttar and Ridvan (assuming he is fit) but Davies will feel he has a chance to remain in and Leon Balogun is fit again, we believe. Barisic and Sterling remain unavailable.

Midfield should see Ryan Jack in with a chance – Lundstram had a good evening midweek as did Raskin eventually, but we think the Scot might start this one beside the ex-Sheffield star. And frankly there aren’t many other options. Cifuentes isn’t fit yet as far as we’re aware.

Front 3 has limited options. Lawrence, Matondo and Roofe aren’t available, and only Wright, Lammers, Sima and Cantwell are. So it’s lucky dip of those three.

And up top Danilo did enough to impress in Prague and may get the nod.

There will come a point where the manager will want to make changes, before January that is, but his hands are tied for now with injuries.

So, with that all said, we reckon:

Butland; Tavernier, Goldson, Souttar, Ridvan; Jack, Lundstram; Sima, Cantwell, Wright; Danilo

What we think or want as fans is irrelevant, Clement is the man charged with managing Rangers and he’s doing what he thinks is best on the limited knowledge he still has.

So we’ll see what XI he does produce come tomorrow.
