Todd Cantwell is doing right by Rangers after major statement

There is no question fans’ favourite Todd Cantwell is one of the few Rangers players being held in a bit more esteem at the moment.

Sure, his form this season hasn’t quite matched the spectacular second half of last campaign which made him an instant hero, but he’s still had his impressive moments and shown the quality he has.

But it’s off the pitch where he’s proven particularly popular – the comment at the weekend about the match was exactly what fans needed to hear, not his ‘captain’ James Tavernier’s absolute b******s in the press.

Cantwell took to social media in a much better use of it than his feud with Celtic troll Sutton, and said thus:

“We need actions not words however silence can seem cowardly in these times. We need unity and togetherness to turn this season successful. It’s not the start we wanted although everything is still in our hands. You fans are incredible and deserve to see better. Over to us.”

Compare this with the tripe the captain come out with about ‘disappointment’ then defending his own form as good enough along with Goldson’s shocking Hibs comments that infamous cup semi and it’s night and day.

Cantwell is absolutely taking responsibility for the collective, showing leadership, making clear things aren’t good enough as they stand.

Compared with the utter garbage the likes of Tav and Goldson spew over us it’s a refreshing change – true, if he kept saying it week after week following blot after Rangers blot, we might think differently, but for now it’s nice to see a Rangers player with honesty, transparency and accountability.

Cantwell for captain, anyone?
