Rangers get PSV Eindhoven again in the Champions League…. sort of

Should Rangers somehow overcome Swiss cracks Servette in the third round of Champions League qualifiers, and trust us, our faith Michael Beale is capable of doing this is slim at best, we will be ‘rewarded’ with a potential rematch of last season’s play-off round.

Yes, PSV or Austrian giants Sturm Graz await the winners of Rangers’ tie with Servette, in a potential replay of last year’s identical tie which saw Rangers’ titanic win in Holland secure a massive Champions League entry. Ok it was a disaster thereafter, but the big prize was just getting there.

But now?

A manager who looks clueless, frustrated, defeated and beleaguered and has made an absolute mess of his squad, a squad that is disjointed, ill-balanced and low-confidence, and a fanbase unhappy with many things right now.

But it can all change in 90 minutes. If Rangers host Servette and get a big win on Wednesday, then it does lift the mood a lot.

But to do enough to get to PSV or Sturm Graz will be another matter entirely, and then overcoming them to get to the group stage would be utterly colossal.

One thing we agree with Michael Beale on is that Killie was a huge dose of reality for everyone – we had warned about the defence, but the attack too isn’t firing either, and that’s the bit he spent nearly £15M on.

The midfield was also non-functional and overall the current state of things is not fit for purpose.

So, BRING ON SERVETTE!!!

We jest, it will be tough to match them never mind beat them then PSV will have full revenge in mind should they get past Graz.

It was written in the stars.
