Rangers have FOUR bids for FOUR strikers rejected – update
Benie Traore in action for Hacken....

Rangers have had yet more bids rejected by a selling club, with as mentioned before, the submission for Feyenoord’s Danilo amounting to around £2.5M being dismissed out of hand, the De Kuip giants looking for more akin to £5M+, while the attempt on Hacken’s Benie Traore was about the same number with the Swedes wanting well over double what Rangers offered.

Rangers’ hunt for a quality striker is stuttering, with Haji Wright, Cyriel Dessers, Traore and Danilo among those the club has bid and failed for, with just Atalanta’s Sam Lammers being a success and of course he was only a fringe player in Italy and was a cut-price deal for Michael Beale.

Indeed, Rangers have bid individual amounts up to around £7M for these four strikers, Haji Wright said to be the largest amount offered, but selling clubs are not accepting what is being deemed as low-ball attempts.

If Rangers want a top striker, unfortunately they’re going to have to pay for him, and so far the budget, as we discussed yesterday, isn’t allowing for the kind of yesteryear investments Rangers used to be able to afford.

Beale did hint in March that he would have a ‘good amount’ to spend compared with previous seasons and managers, which supports the idea he will have a comparable £11M-£12M to spend in this window like his predecessors did, but as we discussed yesterday, he has to be careful about splurging that on one player.

So as things stand, none of the four names mentioned are even close to being secured – all bids have been rejected and Rangers lack a proper hitman up front aside Colak and Lammers.

We will just have to see if the club is able to fork up more cash because goalscoring strikers just do not grow on trees.

  1. We need to stop messing about and get a decent offer put in for whoever is the best of the strikers that we are looking at as pre-season starts Friday and we need to give any newbies as much time as possible to settle in. 💙💙
