Football Insider’s laughable Ryan Kent story today gives some idea of just how bad the media are, and how much they will use Rangers and our name for clicks.

As readers of Ibrox Noise know, Ryan Kent is 99.99% leaving Rangers. It just rests on official confirmation now. But Turkish press, credible sources in there, confirmed Kent had agreed in principle a deal with Fenerbahce. We reported this.

This was about a week+ ago.

Today, Football Insider ‘exclusively’ break the exact same story, that Kent has NOT agreed a precontract with the Turkish side, only that he’s spoken to them and, as we understand it, agreed terms.

This is NOT the same thing, and we’re in exasperation at the levels to which the press these days steal our stories, other Rangers sites’ stories and content in general under our name to create an exclusive.

Agreeing a deal in principle is NOT agreeing a precontract – it is certainly not SIGNING a precontract.

Agreeing a deal in principle is simply agreeing some terms and conditions and that in theory, this club is an option. That is ALL Ryan Kent did.

Agreeing a precontract is the next step. It’s when an actual contract is laid out based on the deal in principle, and the player’s agent looks at it and reports to the player the details. That is it.

Signing a precontract is the final stage. It follows agreeing a deal in principle, then agreeing a precontract. It is the signature which makes it official.

Ryan Kent only chatted with Fenerbahce with his agent and theoretically agreed some terms with them verbally. It went no further, and that is that.

That Football Insider have the temerity to basically claim that as an exclusive is pretty laughable when it was widely-known a week ago.

But no, Kent hasn’t signed anything yet, he’s still weighing up all his options and seeing where his football adventure is taking him next.

We’ll have further Kent content for you in due course when it is officially announced he’s leaving Rangers.
