Ryan Jack’s new deal 99% confirms the Rangers exits of a clutch of players now, as Michael Beale confirms the names will be revealed after this weekend.

But of course we already know, pretty much, the definite players going.

They are Kieran Wright, Steven Davis, Scott Arfield, Filip Helander, Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Allan McGregor, with only a sliver of a chance Malik Tillman will return.

The fact the club has chosen to announce Jacko’s new deal before May has ended does strongly hint the rest have not been offered new contracts, and will not be remaining – not unless a stunning flurry of announcements begins to the contrary over the course of the weekend.

But Michael Beale has strongly suggested that all other out of contract players will be confirmed as exiting, and that announcement will take place early next week we believe.

It is the end of an era for so many players, who, in some cases, overstayed their welcomes, and some who never got their careers going in the first place.

There may be a few others too though, not just the out of contract players.

Jon McLaughlin, Scott Wright, and Kemar Roofe are rather vulnerable as well, with information already reaching us that the former two are indeed being released – mutual consent, of course.

Roofe just hasn’t been able to get going as a Rangers player, and he, like Helander, is a case of what might have been if he hadn’t been injured. He’d also be mutual consent.

But we now do know the worst-kept secret, that Ryan Jack has a new one-year deal.

He is not going to be a first-pick regular, but will provide depth in the squad, with work being done on Jose Cifuentes from LAFC.

He’s just not fit enough to be any more than squad depth, but at his age he was never going to leave Rangers if the club would offer a new deal.

It has been done now, and we can expect a raft of exits announced soon.
