“You on the sauce?” – mental Rangers XI to face Celtic at Hampden

If Michael Beale is to have any hope of getting Rangers to the Scottish Cup Final, he will need to make decisions in the club’s best interests and that includes removing Alfredo Morelos, Malik Tillman and Fashion Sakala from the starting lineup.

Ryan Kent and Connor Goldson must also be nowhere to be seen, and we’d even consider removing James Tavernier as well but there’s no replacement.

In short, we need heart, quality and guts, which all of the above fall desperately short on and filling the XI up with them will hand the final to Celtic before a ball is even kicked.

We are already a man down with Allan McGregor in goal (as much as we love him, his time is up, and we’re just praying he’s got one more massive 90 in him to handle Celtic) because Jon McLaughlin is way way worse and Robby McCrorie seems terminally injured these days.

So we need to start on with players who have heart, guts, quality and pace, and we’d suggest ripping up the rotten XI our manager has been going with, the one not doing the job, and taking the risk on something more bold.

We start with the XI who have faced the last three matches (1W 2L) then it’s a defeat before we even take the field. Which means the manager must be brave.

In goal, McGregor, because we have no choice.

Back four, Tavernier, because no choice and he scores, Souttar, Lundstram and Barisic.

Yes, Lundstram. He’s in poor midfield form, but his defensive stats have remained very good and he’s decent at the back. He is too slow to partner Raskin, but he’s big and strong and could cause more imposing presence than the wimp that is Ben Davies. Barisic on the left.

Midfield? Kamara, Raskin and Cantwell. Jack would have been the man, but he’s out for the season, as good as. We don’t have a single fit defensive midfielder at all, aside Kamara, and he wants his move. This stage is set for him to play a big match and impress suitors. We’d put Arfield in here but he’s wasted in central midfield.

But the final three is even more telling. No Kent, no Fashion, no Morelos and no Tillman.

Instead, on the left, Matondo, central Colak, right Arfield.

It’s mental? Right? It’s bold? Right? It’s probably a bit p*sh, right?

But is it any worse than the absolute tripe our squad is coming out with at the moment? There is a case to include Ridvan as well, but unless you lose the crossing of Barisic or the wingplay and dribbling of Matondo, we’re not sure how he can be fit in.

So, your Ibrox Noise SUGGESTED XI to face Celtic:

McGregor; Tavernier, Souttar, Lundstram, Barisic; Kamara, Raskin, Cantwell; Matondo, Colak, Arfield.

This manager will achieve nothing with the fails he keeps fielding. If this XI loses, which it probably still will, at least he’s tried to be bold and do something different.

But failing with the same XI yet again is basically inexcusable.
