So the cat is out of the bag now after Ibrox Noise exclusively reported to you a few days ago that Alfredo Morelos had agreed a precontract with Sevilla. At that point the signature wasn’t yet finalised but as you will have seen from the rest of the world media, the story has now filtered through into the mainstream after a Spanish outlet confirmed Ibrox Noise’s exclusive.

The new information is that Morelos has now signed the paperwork and will switch to Spain for nought this summer, with the only thing remaining being the official announcement, and while precontracts are frequently announced when signed, the sheer circus around Morelos and his time at Ibrox has meant this one has been done much more quietly.

Rangers still have a Scottish Cup and a hyper-slim chance at 56 this season, so there are still things to play for, and Morelos, a divisive figure as it is among Rangers fans, would be better keeping quiet about this for fear of recriminations among supporters.

The big frustration of course is what now looks like a huge error from Stewart Robertson in not selling him for £16.5M two+ years ago, a move which has now cost Rangers significantly and should cost the managing director his job.

But that’s for another entry.

In the here and now Morelos remains a Rangers player, but given the apathy and heartlessness he’s shown in the past 12 months in the shirt, we don’t expect to see an awful lot more of him this season unless new first choice Tony Goalak gets an untimely injury, and that’s the last thing we want.

It’s hardly like the hitman is now playing for his Rangers future, or cares about this club enough to want to put a shift in – he’ll leave by the backdoor, and just saunter his way off to Spain to start his new life, and will never mention us again, not that he really does at the moment.

His Rangers backers among our support will always big him up, prefer him to Colak, and portray him as a spectacular striker who’s the world’s best. They’ll wish him the best and half of them will start supporting Sevilla while they’re at it.

We’re not among them. We don’t care for Morelos, because he’s never cared for us.

Sooner he can leave the better.
