Rangers handed mega boost for Sunday as major trio ‘declared fit’

Given it’s the DR reporting this one exclusively, we’re taking it with a mild pinch of salt, but nevertheless the notorious Scottish tabloid claims Rangers have been handed a colossal boost with the confirmed fitness of Malik Tillman, John Lundstram and Kemar Roofe, with just Ryan Jack remaining a doubt.

The first three options were considered big misses, with Rangers still being admittedly very strong without them but lacking bench depth in their absences, but with these apparent reports suggesting the major trio are fit, it would be a big boost to Rangers’ chances on Sunday.

We are very sceptical of the DR, but it’s unlike them to report a positive Rangers story in recent times so perhaps there is something a bit more to this one, and we’d be a lot happier if this one was true.

As we suggested a few days ago, we are unlikely to see Rangers training photos from Auchenhowie, and if we do, they’ll be very coy with what they show we’d imagine, not wanting to give anything away.

But that said, having the three of them back to face the other mob is a huge fillip, even if none of them started. Having all of that trio on the bench able to change things later on if needed would be a huge tool in our armoury, and all three are definitely valid subs for sure.

Would we start any of them? Probably not. We’d be more likely to stick with the Livi line-up given how strong it was that day, Nicolas Raskin having an especially strong match. He’s a surely must-start on Sunday, ditto Cantwell.

Sakala we can’t see being dropped, but who knows – as we mentioned, Tillman is Beale’s favourite so he’ll want him in from the start if possible, and it would be over Sakala or Cantwell.

Decisions.

Nevertheless, the options may well be deeper now, and a bench which was thin as heck could now be filled with quality depth.

It just makes things a tonne easier for Rangers given what rides on this one, but we’ll hang back from celebrating just yet regardless.
