We’ve got quite a lot to chew through over today’s rather underwhelming win over bottom-feeding Ross County. Gone was the gumption, pace, power and aggression from Tynecastle, and in its place, a ponderous and rather idea-less performance which relied on one moment of genius and another of luck to win.

Following on from the best of Beale’s Rangers at Hearts, this was the worst, and while there’s a lot of analysis to cover, this piece will be focusing on the man every true Rangers fan loves to hate now, in Jon McLaughlin.

Yes, used the word hate, because the post-goal reaction and post-match reaction was as far from love as it’s possible to be, and Ibrox Noise are on record as being unable to stand the man’s guts. Even his interviews when he was given the jersey were complete garbage, admitting he wasn’t really good enough for the shirt:

“Of course. I don’t think you can get away from that [the belief McGregor should be number one]. There is a lot said and a lot of noise around it. I suppose that comes with the territory at Rangers. It’s not as if we didn’t know that would be the case. Of course all I can do is be the best version of myself, I can’t be somebody else. If I am asked to play I give my best for the manager, the team and the club. That’s as far as I can take it. I am given the shirt and asked to play and all I can do is give my best. Whatever else is going on around that, however other people see it, is out of my control. Of course you feel it. You know it’s there. But I am just doing the best that I can to be worthy of that shirt and that badge every time I play.”

A complete lack of assurance in there, and yet another pile of flaps at the ball today at Ibrox as this utterly atrocious goalie, who seems to have wormed his way into persistent prominence at Rangers, haplessly conceded another goal.

We can’t stand him. We’re on record as saying that, as a football player and as a Rangers ‘goalkeeper’ he’s an abomination and a disgrace, and it’s even more ridiculous that Michael Beale doesn’t care. Indeed, he said the following:

“I feel this year the narrative around Jon is a poor narrative. In my time at the club previously and, since I’ve been back, Jon’s record per game with wins and clean sheets is absolutely outstanding. He made quite a high-profile mistake but I don’t think we should condemn him. It’s important that I keep Jon focused and feeling like he is wanted and loved around here because he is.”

No, he isn’t mate, and you and we all know it.

McLaughlin is a truly honking goalie, Ibrox Noise strongly suggesting he’s among the very worst our fine club has ever suffered in between its sticks (including 2012-), and to ever select him is both a slur on legends of the past, and a damning indictment of what you think of Robby McCrorie. Injured? Has he been injured for years since we signed McLaughlin and ignored the younger model who can actually do the job when McGregor was either struggling or injured?

We know this sounds like an angry internet person ranting and going red in the face, but McLaughlin is so poor that we cannot fathom how this man ever got the Rangers signature, far less became our first choice.

His whole career is deep mediocrity, and that’s why Ibrox Noise were aghast when he was picked number one, and even more despairing when the bulk of you lot out there completely endorsed the choice.

For Beale to select him with a straight face is just comical, and the longer McLaughlin remains in our goal, the more stupid and dim-witted goals we’ll concede.

We’d mutual consent him but why would he ever agree to leave when he’s on a cushy long-term deal?

Worst goalie Rangers have ever had? He’s up there, he is.
