BBC in new comical anti-Rangers rant after pro-Aberdeen fury

The BBC were the first to show their true colours tonight after being unable to conceal their disgust at Rangers’ 11th-hour turnaround at Pittodrie, claiming the side’s title hopes are ‘fragile’ and the team stopped them ‘splintering further’ in diabolically-tabloid language more akin to the red tops than the BBC.

Well, we say that, but they’re clearly fuming, aren’t they? We know the BBC are filled with Celtic and Aberdeen fans, and Pacific Quay is rife with them, and despite the fairly recent ceasefire allowing BBC officials full cooperation from the club and matchday coverage, they remain biased and unable to allow fair language to describe the incredible comeback the visiting side made in Aberdeen.

Instead, it’s a dig at how far behind they claim we are, and how this stopped us crumbling entirely.

In reality, yes, had we lost tonight 56 was well and truly done – but 6 points behind in December, should Livi pull off a miracle or indeed any side do so over the next month or two and Rangers pull that gap back a bit, and suddenly it’s not splinters at all, is it?

The BBC are meant to be neutral, to cover our matches with fairness and not resort to patently anti-Rangers language, no matter who is covering our games from their Glasgow HQ, but this language this evening is pretty blatantly written by a Celtic or Aberdeen fan absolutely disgusted by the end of that match and unable to show balance.

There has to be a Rangers dig in there, a ‘backhanded compliment’ as they say, because the terminology being used by those with whom Rangers have an uneasy truce is far from fair or impartial.

It’s anything but.

We don’t expect the red (or blue) carpet being rolled out by any corporation, but we expect and are entitled to fair coverage.

Attacking the club after a win like that is far from fair, and shows us the Beeb will never be a group able to keep their angst about all things Ibrox to themselves.

Despite the thawing of ice between both groups, the BBC will continue to slip up and demonstrate at moments like these how they really feel about Rangers.
