Who’s available and who isn’t? Rangers’ injury-hit squad summarised
Glasgow Rangers players (back L-R) Rangers' Croatian defender Borna Barisic, Rangers' German-born Croatian striker Antonio Colak, Rangers' English defender Ben Davies, Rangers' English defender Connor Goldson, Rangers' Scottish midfielder Ryan Jack, Rangers' Scottish goalkeeper Allan McGregor, (L-R) Rangers' Zambian striker Fashion Sakala, Rangers' English midfielder John Lundstram, Rangers' English defender James Tavernier, Rangers' Canadian-Scottish midfielder Scott Arfield and Rangers' English midfielder Ryan Kent pose for a group picture before the UEFA Champions League Group A football match between Glasgow Rangers and Liverpool at the Ibrox Stadium, in Glasgow, on October 12, 2022. So with an injury crisis in full swing, Rangers travel to Motherwell and Ibrox Noise sums up who’s available, who isn’t, and what we actually have at our disposal as we try to put this wretched week behind us.

Goals is simple enough, McGregor, McLaughlin and McCrorie are fine, but we’d like to see McCrorie starting to get some appearances now.

Defence is where the chaos starts. We have no Connor Goldson, John Souttar and Filip Helander while doubts linger over Ben Davies. Gio ‘expects’ him to feature tomorrow but it didn’t sound too sure. Davies picked up an injury midweek.

We definitely have James Sands and Leon King. Not exactly rich pickings.

At fullback we are another injury away from relying on Adam Devine, because off-form James Tavernier is our only option, just like Goldson was. A ticking timebomb that.

On the other side we’re a bit stronger – Borna, like the rest, wasn’t great midweek but along with Ridvan we have some depth.

Midfield is back to chaos again. Ryan Jack is ruled out for a long time, Steven Davis isn’t really up to it any more, Glen Kamara doesn’t care anymore, and there’s only John Lundstram up for the fight. We’re absolutely threadbare there. Letting Stephen Kelly go is another one that was short sighted but hey, that’s a forte of our board.

Wings? Well they’re hit and miss. Ryan Kent is so abysmally off form it’s barely worth discussing and Scott Wright is hardly Messi, and that’s it for the left. On the right there’s Rabbi Matondo (who has a lot to prove), Kemar Roofe (who is a long way off match fitness) and the only bright spark in Fashion Sakala, which shows how desperate we are.

More centrally Scott Arfield is of course the one reliable but he’s getting on, while Malik Tillman’s bright start has faded dramatically. Unless you want to put a huge weight on Charlie McCann’s shoulders.

Up front? Tonio and Alfie. That’s it.

So the squad we DEFINITELY have for tomorrow:

McGregor, McCrorie, McLaughlin, Tavernier, Devine, Sands, King, Barisic, Ridvan, Lundstram, Davis, Kamara, Lundstram, Arfield, McCann, Kent, Wright, Sakala, Tillman, Kent, Matondo, Colak, Morelos.

It’s currently about a 23-man squad, but rather than trimming it down from 30 and picking the very best options, that’s literally the lot to choose from.

Davies, Roofe and Lowry are close to fitness but doubts abound over them.

So it’s not the healthiest state, but hey, what’s new?
